Packing for Private Clients / Unknown Cargo

If you want to send your personal belongings, excess baggage or other goods as a private shipper via a freight forwarder or international freight agent you will be confronted with the following message:

Packaging
Freight forwarders only accept goods that are properly packed. They do not provide packaging for you!
You are responsible for the correct packaging!
In case of damage, the freight forwarder and/or the insurance company will assess whether the goods were properly protected by proper packaging.  Damage will not be reimbursed, unless the packaging is demonstrably adequate. It is therefore essential to protect your belongings for the shipping/freighting process.

At HFT Packaging we deal on a daily basis with many types of packaging or repackaging of airfreight and we know exactly what type of packaging and handling your belongings need to be shipped safely by airfreight or any other method of transport.

The rules and regulations introduced by the authorities over the last several years have resulted in difficulties for private shippers having their goods accepted for shipment by air. All airfreight shipments require an “Air Safety Certificate” HFT Packaging are approved to inspect your goods by means of a physical (manual check) or with scanning equipment, package them appropriately and then issue the required "Air Safety Certificate" -  without any additional charges.

Airfreight shipments should not at any time contain prohibited  (weapons, etc.) or dangerous goods if not packed and certified according to the IATA Dangerous Goods regulations.

Dangerous goods include the following items: batteries unless completely isolated (i.e. not in any electronic devices), alcoholic perfume, aerosol cans under pressure
(e.g., hairspray, insect spray, etc.), gas bottles, lighters, etc. When in doubt please contact us.

When dangerous goods are found during our cargo safety check we will separate these articles and contact you for further instructions. If required we can take care of proper packaging according to the IATA / ICAO regulations. Dangerous goods may not exceed 24 hours storage in our warehouse.
